Although, I read one not too long ago that did the opposite and used words that made me have to reach for the dictionary every page or two, which I also really don't like.Sarah Mäkelähttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10239437847082720298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-332858490828689890.post-77908313018879786022011-04-06T01:45:42.534-05:002011-04-06T01:45:42.534-05:00Great post. I feel like if the author made me know what the character feels without telling me, through the character’s body language, then the author did his/her job.

Dafeenah, thanks for stopping by. I think all writers suffer with detail. Some include too much, some (like me) forget to include details.

Christa, I do that all the time. My biggest flaw is “she thought to herself”, like duh, who else is she going to think to? Or another big one for me is using the word “through” when I really mean “across”.

MJ, thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed it. :-)Angelina Rainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16953868243120764347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-332858490828689890.post-51653961981547760902011-04-05T20:28:20.792-05:002011-04-05T20:28:20.792-05:00Oh I loved this post, thanks for the laugh!

My eyes glaze over every time.

If you want to show me what the character is feeling show it in his body language. Sometimes I turn off the sound to movies and just watch the actors emote. It's amazing how much more is said with simple body gestures.Maria Zanninihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01604862636922299273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-332858490828689890.post-55760717202284942932011-04-05T10:28:45.780-05:002011-04-05T10:28:45.780-05:00Everything you mentioned and then some more :)
