Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

This whole week I tried not to write, but today, I broke down. I sat in front of my computer, playing with the different fonts on Microsoft Word when I stumbled upon the “Chiller” font.  It was a bloody, Halloween font, and before I knew it, I had written a Halloween poem. Before I started writing fiction, poetry was my thing. Of course, even poetry needs to be perfected. This poem isn’t perfect, but can you expect perfection out of a five minute task?
So here you go: Happy Halloween.

“Again!”

It was a silent night
A night not like any other
She walked the streets
Her eyes were tear stained
He drove around her,
Trying not to hit her.

He drove for miles
Trying not to fall asleep
When he saw her walking
Down the street.

Again!

Again!

Again!

How could it be?
He passed her miles ago.
Hours ago.

He swerved and missed her.
Almost hit her.
The sadness in her eyes
Tore at his soul.

He drove for miles
Trying not to fall asleep
When he saw her walking
Down the Street.

Again!

He looked around
Afraid of what he’d see.

Again!

His father was sitting
Next to him.

Again!

“But you died
Years ago,”
He said

“And I killed her,”
Daddy answered
With an echo
Laced with death.

She walked
With sadness in her eyes
And tears on her face.
She tried to find home
Tried to walk that way.
But she didn’t get closer.
Only trapped on this street
On which she had died
Years ago, indeed.

She was walking
Down the street.

Again!

  2. Joanna:

Yes, I did change the skin of my blog. I wanted a skin that would inspire me to write my NaNo project and this skin does somehow.
