Anyway, so I went out. I needed dog food so I went to Petsmart. The Petsmart I went to has a doggy hotel in it and there is a glass wall where shoppers could watch the hotel dogs play around. I walked over to it and watched the dogs play. One dog, an older beagle, ran up to the glass wall and just stared at me. He looked straight into my eyes. It was eerie. I walked over to one side, just to see what the dog will do, and he followed. The other dogs were playing around, trying to get his attention, but he just stared at me. So I walked in another direction, and he followed.
I could have stayed there all day but I needed to shop so I walked away, got what I needed, and decided to walk past the glass wall again.
He was playing with the other dogs, but as soon as he saw me, he abandoned his friends and came running. He stared at me, right into my eyes, again. His gaze was strange, as if he knew me or something. Nothing could get his attention away from me.
I walked over to the checkout lane but kept my eyes on the glass wall. He still stared at me. Even when leaving the store, I noticed him standing at the wall with his eyes glued to me.
I wonder what he was thinking. Did I remind him of someone he once knew?
Have any of you ever encountered an animal that couldn’t look away?
~*~ If anyone is interested, my grandma is out of the hospital. Woo Hoo!
~*~ Come back next week for my first ever blog tour. I have lots of cool info to share!
I will leave you all with a picture of my mailbox. The mountain of snow around it was already like four feet tall, but then my hubby piled more on trying to dig out my car.
Have a great weekend!
Glad you're feeling better and, man, what a snowstorm! I'm not sure I would have been able to leave that store without that dog under my arm! Sounds adorable.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm glad to know she's out of the hospital! I was wondering where you were girl, hadn't seen much out of you the last couple days. Was getting ready to shoot an e-mail.
ReplyDeleteAs for the animals, I've had some creepy animal stalkers before. I have worked animal rescue for years. Had a psychotic kitten once (poor thing had literally been to hell and back) that would growl and purr at the same time. I walked around with her constantly velcroed to my hip.

ReplyDeleteMy family lives in the Chicagoland area and they've been keeping me updated. My mom is supposed to have surgery today, but who knows if they'll do it. Sounds like you guys still haven't recovered.
Glad you're feeling well enough to get out though.

The first thing I thought of was that he might have known you in another life. :) You obviously meant a great deal to him. Someone he remembered fondly.
Experts are always saying dogs have no long term memory.
My foot, they don't.
Take it slow, hon.
Hi Angelina,
ReplyDeleteSo happy that your Grandma is well now and out of the hospital.
Wow, that is a lot of snow. Glad your grandma is out of the hospital. Taht is good news.
ReplyDeleteWeird dog encounter, but great fodder for a story. Huh?
Hi Angelina,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, glad to hear your grandma is out of the hospital. Second, I've seen pics of the midwest and it's a white blanket. Never seen it before. Montreal has had a mild winter (relatively speaking) ;) We got a snowstorm this week but nothing we hadn't seen before. I went to work (took the bus, the metro, and then walked some more) :(
The actual day of the storm was not so bad, it's worse now: slush city!
Your doggie story: it melted my heart. Maybe he wanted you to take him/her home ;) he sensed something about you. Maybe you're special to him. AWWW! Are you sure he had an owner? Is it really a dog hotel? I absolutely love dogs. They're amazing creatures. ;)
YAY about your grandma. That's so cute about the doggie hotel!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better, and your mailbox looks a lot like mine... :-P
