Coming in April

One thing most of you probably don’t know about me; I love a good challenge. I love the feeling of community where everyone is doing the same thing, and the individualism of each project. So when I heard about the A-Z blogging challenge, I had to sign up. With over seven hundred people signed up, it’s a very popular challenge. The rules are simple: Every Monday through Saturday, post on your blog with the post topic being the right letter of the alphabet. Example, April first, you could post about apples, April second, balloons, and April third, caviar. Okay, so you get the hint. I already have my letter A planned out. . . . And that’s as far as I went with my planning. – Check out the side bar on this blog to see which post will appear when. I will try to keep that updated.

Besides the challenge, I also plan to write a lot in April. Last week, I outlined two novels that I plan to write (one is a rewrite but there’s not much left of the original plot except for the characters, so it will feel like a new story). I’ve never worked with outlines before. If I do outline, it’s the last couple of chapters of the story. Although I have one short story already published, I’m far from being a pro at writing. Half the time, I don’t know what I’m doing. I tried being a panster and it worked out, but it was also very stressful. Now I’m going to try being a plotter. Wish me luck with that! Let’s see if I could have both stories completed by the end of April.

Besides the challenge and writing, I’m also planning on camping this April. I love camping. I could already feel the soft grass under my feet, the smell of the dingy old camping trailer that I love, the beauty of the lake where I fish and release, the woods through which my dog and I hike, the scrambled eggs with bacon cooked on a real fire. Ah, three more weeks and if spring decides to grace us with her presence again, I am so out of here and in that little ol’ camper. Actually, talking about camping, now I have the letter C planned out (and I’ll be sharing pictures).

What are your plans for April? If you’re participating in the A-Z challenge, are you prepared?

  3. I'm doing the A-Z Challenge! :)

I'm trying to be prepared; I want to have all my posts scheduled by the 1st, although that goal doesn't look so guaranteed at the moment. I've done less than half the month.

  8. I have signed up for the A-Z challenge but you are WAY more organized than me. I do have "A" written but that's about it. I'm going to wing it and treat each day like a writing exercise. I'm already stressing about "X."

  10. Not prepared at all and wondering if I'm going to actually do the challenge now. I'm in the thick of my rewrites and really need to make a push to get them done. I'm worried that blogging will get in the way. Honestly, I've been thinking about taking April off. I'm worried that visiting everyone's blogs will take too much of my time. I feel bad participating and then not visiting a ton of blogs a day. Oh, what to do , what to do...
