Karma is a b*****, and she should be avoided at all cost. If you do something to tick her off, she flips her long blonde hair off her shoulders, gazes at you deeply with her seductive green eyes, and then lashes you with the whip of justice, and you get what you have coming.

For me, bad karma is a big motivator against doing bad things. I’m not talking about murder or stuff. Hell and jail motivate me against that one. No, but when I read a very horrible book, I don’t warn people about it by writing a bad review. Why? So Karma wouldn’t set her eyes on me and make someone write a bad review about my book.

My husband is a firm believer in good karma, so he goes out of his way to help his friends, neighbors, even strangers. Just last week, he helped a man in the Home Depot parking lot load his heavy purchases into his car. He claims that for every good thing he does, it will be returned to him some way, somehow.

Yet, often times I look around and the people who do the worst acts sometimes don’t have Karma chasing them down with her double edged sword and her whip of justice. It makes me think if Karma forgot about them, or is she toying with them, making them think she forgot, and then striking them down with a form of justice that fits their crime perfectly.

What are your opinions of karma?

  1. Hmm...I wish I believed in karma. In real life, bad guys win because the good guys are too busy waiting on god/karma/flying spaghetti monster to punish them for their bad deeds instead of doing it themselves.

I try to do good things because it's the right thing to do. Not because I'm afraid karma will bite me in the ass later on. When people do bad things, I become the whip of justice and beat them down myself. People can be disgusting, dirty and morally corrupt monsters. I've seen it personally when I worked as a rape crisis interventionist.

Sitting back and doing nothing won't save anyone. Be the change you want to see.

  2. I'm with you. I'm a firm believer that you get back what you put out in the universe. However, I will write a bad review of a book if I feel the book wasn't good, but I'm always careful to critique instead of criticize. Just because a book isn't for me, doesn't mean it's not for everyone but I want to inform people why I didn't like the book, not slander it just because. But I hold doors open for people and try to always be polite.

I see some of the same things you do about Karma skipping people. But Karma isn't my main motivator. In the end, I'd much rather make someone's day then ruin it, with or without consequenses.

  3. I believe in karma, though it may be because one of my mantras is the Three-Fold Law. I don't ever expect anything back for it though. I think that's part of how karma works. If you do it because you want something in return, then you aren't doing it simply out of the goodness of your heart. That, in essence, defies (or defines) the principle of Karma

As for the bad guys; maybe karma is taking time to learn what will hurt them the most? If they are that bad, often things that would be devastating to us (sick family, death of pet, etc) wouldn't have much of an effect on them. Karma has to gear up, wait for it, and strike them in one hard blow! That's what I tell myself at least.

  4. Sometimes the bad guys/gals seem to get away with things but is karma related to this life only???

  5. I don't know if Karma works in real life, but I want to believe it does.

Besides, I feel better when I help someone, so if Karma is listening, it's win-win.

  6. I never thought of Karma being good. Do good when I can, but never put the positive connotation to it...until now. Thanks.

  7. I definitely believe in the philosophy of what goes around comes around. I think Karma and Patience go hand in hand and sincerity ties it all together. We may not see our rewards or punishments come right away, but I do believe they come eventually. And those who do good acts for self-gain and are insincere about their causes will be paid in like manner eventually.

I try to do kindness and think positively in order to achieve my own inner peace by making the world around me a little better. Hopefully "Karma" is watching over me favorably.
