One For The Money

People say "Don't judge a book by it's cover." I try not to, but I'm a very visual reader and an ugly cover will turn me off. In my late teens, a friend of mine recommended that I read something by bestselling author Janet Evanovich. One look at the book cover and I said NO! This friend worked hard to get me to read this book by explaining that covers should not dictate the goodness or badness of the book. However, I was very strict in my views and wasn't willing to budge. Eventually, this friend convinced me to get on the author's website and read the excerpt of this novel. So I did. I read the first couple of pages, expecting to be bored to death. I wasn't bored. I was hooked! That very same day I went to the library and checked this book out. All the copies were already taken and I had to settle for the large print version. Within a day I read the book and was back at the library exchanging it for "Two for the Dough", book two in the series.

Recently, I learned that this book is being turned into a movie. I didn't like most of the cast selections. I think there were more fitting actors for many of the roles (like Betty White as the grandma). However, the trailer of the movie had me hooked and now I can't wait until next year to see it.

  1. OMG! One of my friends kept bugging me to read the Stephanie Plum novels, but I never did. But now I see from the trailer that the characters are just like she described them (only in color). Now I have to find the books.

    Thanks, Angelina.

  2. I LOVE this series. On the fence however for the movie, like you I can think of better actors for the roles, but I'll probably watch it :)

  3. I've read a couple of books in the series. I love the snark factor of her writing voice. The movie looks cute!

  4. Kathy as brunette. Okay...though I must admit that if Betty white were the grandma I'd be down for checking this movie out in a heartbeat. That lady's a riot!
