TV Shows and Books

NEWS

INTIMATE HEALING is now on Amazon.com and from the looks of it, no one has bought it yet. So be the first to buy the book from Amazon! lol.

When it comes to entertainment, finding me in front of the TV is like finding a cow wearing ice skates and a pink dress. You would have to join a circus to find that. I get my TV in the form of renting DVD's or watching it online on the network's website. However, last night on the way home from work, I listened to the radio when they announced a brand new show premiering later that night.

It had Sarah Michelle Gellar in it, and since I really miss her in Buffy, I figured I'll give this show a chance.

Here's a quick blurb of the show:

RINGER
Bridget is six months sober and starting to turn her life around when she is the sole witness to a professional hit. Despite the assurances of her FBI protector, Agent Victor Machado, Bridget knows her life is on the line. She flees to New York, telling no one, not even her Narcotics Anonymous sponsor, Malcolm. In New York, Bridget reunites with her estranged twin, Siobhan. Wealthy, pampered and married to the strikingly handsome Andrew Martin, Siobhan lives what appears to be a fairy tale life – a life where no one knows that Bridget exists. The sisters seem to be mending their frayed relationship, until Siobhan disappears overboard during a boat trip, and Bridget makes the split decision to take on her sister's identity. She discovers shocking secrets, not only about her sister and her marriage, but also about Siobhan's best friend, Gemma, and Gemma's husband, Henry. And when someone tries to kill Bridget in her sister's penthouse, she realizes she is no safer as Siobhan than she is as herself.

So I watched the first episode and was surprised at how much it reminded me of books by one of my favorite authors, Sandra Brown. You see, SB writes romantic suspense where every single character has something to hide. As the books progress, secrets and lies come out.

In Ringer, every character has secrets they are keeping. As the episode progressed, some of those secrets were revealed to the viewer, yet there are many more lurking in the shadows.

So I guess I will have to wait until next week to learn more secrets and lies. Until then, I might put down my e-reader and pick up one of my Sandra Brown paper books.

So how about you guys, any of you watched that show last night? And, do any of your favorite shows remind you of your favorite authors?

  1. This sounds like a wonderful TV show. Sarah is a very good actress. I'm glad she's returning...and from your description, she 's returning in a wonderful role.

I haven't seen this, but I suppose I better add this to my list of things to watch.

  3. I watched Ringer last night. I like Sarah, but the show was just... I don't know. Trying too hard? Everything seemed forced. I'll give it another try next week, though.

I love watching TV for inspiration. I love when characters are slowly revealed, one layer after the next.

  5. I missed the show the other night, so I'll have to remind myself to watch next week. I loved Buffy, and I really want Ringer to be good. The show also stars Ioan Gruffudd, who I adore, so it's another reason for me to watch.
