The End!

Wow. I actually finished writing “Intimate Healing”. My first novel is DONE! I’m pretty happy at how it turned out. It had its sweet moments, sad moments, edge of your seat moments, and “you go girl” moments. I’m happy with the end result, although I didn’t make my word count goal. I was aiming at 50,000-55,000 but only got 42,000.

Now, the hard part. Editing!!! I have never edited before *biting nails*. It’s completely unknown territory for me. I guess since I figured out how to write, I’ll figure out how to edit too. I just hope it doesn’t take me as long to edit as it took me to write.

  1. I found that if I put the book away for a couple of weeks and then look at it, I can read it with fresher eyes.

Congrats on finishing. That's a major woo-hoo with a cherry on top!

  2. Congrats on getting it finished. As for the editing, that's my favourite part. My books are around 80,000 words and I struggle getting those out. But the editing - oh, it's a joy knocking those words into shape.

Enjoy - and good luck with it!

  4. Lia Bal,
    That's a great accomplishment! Congratulations!
Maria is right. Take a break and distance yourself from the book before you begin editing. Come back to it with fresh eyes and you'll see your work more objectively. However, I'd suggest you get a professional editor to help you out. If you need one, let me know. I know a great gal who's a professional and her fees are very reasonable. I recommended her services to a fellow writer who had just finished her YA novel and she thanked me. She told me she was extremely happy with the results.
Good luck with the editing and publishing!
