I'm Tired of Sex

No, it's not what you think. I still love my husband and... Well, I don't need to spell it out for you, do I?

Ever since winter of 2010, when I wrote and contracted The Problem With Love Spells, I have been on an erotica kick. I've been getting my mind in that gutter by reading smut story after smut story. I've read them all. From three in a bed, to blindfolds and ties. I even stumbled across some girl on girl action in several books. I have read shower scenes and public loving.

I've written erotica too. From three in the bedroom, to toys and bondage. My brain is full of ideas for hot, sensual sex scenes. Even my non erotic contemporary romance (which was supposed to be out by now but is still not) is full of sex. Sex in an animal hospital. Sex on a public street in a hunky cop's car.

And now, as I'm writing my newest erotica, I've come to realize something. I'm just no longer into it. I'm tired of reading and writing sex related stories. I'm craving some emotion packed contemporary romance or some thrilling on the edge of your seat suspense. I no longer want to read about passion between the sheets and would rather take some passion that's slowly burning until it explodes.

Clearly, this will not last forever. I'll read a few books that lack sex and I'll be begging for more written smut. I don't even think I'm capable of writing a book without any sex in it. However, I am looking forward to a small change with my reading.

Have you ever gotten sick of a genre of fiction? If so, what was it?

  2. I know exactly how you feel. I get tired of writing it and reading it.

But then I'll get that way about any genre after a while. I like my variety.

  3. I was on a Dystopian kick earlier in the summer and grew tired of depressing futuristic settings. Now I'm reading contemporaries.

  4. Mystery! I was devouring them like crazy for about five years and then...sick of it. Switched over to YA. Which helped me really appreciate a great mystery/thriller when I went back to it!
